Hello and Welcome to The Hippies Cauldron!!!!

I'm so excited you have found us. The world is a crazy and wild place right now. So, while trying to hold on to what little I could, I decided to create a little project to help people see the simplicity in cooking, home remedies, and gardening. These things can be so overwhelming and daunting to jump into. Sourdough still scares me. With a little guidance and patience, you can make and do so much on your own. Just start small.

The biggest complaint I get is "I don't have time for that". Well, I didn't either. I work a full-time job, commute over an hour both ways, and still want time to stop and do nothing. I started simple with my morning ritual: coffee. I love my morning coffee. Some days I get to enjoy it in the comfort of a blanket and my chair, or drink it while I check the garden, or it's my commute buddy. The day always starts one way or another with my cup of coffee. First in my cup is the coffee. We do our best to buy good coffee from local businesses, or we order it from small businesses we have found on our travels. All are eco-friendly and don't hurt the environment. Next in, is a flavored syrup. We had been buying them, but after trying one syrup recipe and seeing how easy it was, we went down the rabbit hole and make it all ourselves now. Last but definitely not least for me is the creamer. I love sweeter coffee; I know it's a problem. I would always get the sweet cream creamer from the store. One day I looked at the back and realized I didn't understand half of what was in it. Yikes! What the hell was I drinking every morning? That had to change. I tried dozens of recipes before finding my new go-to. Now every morning I know exactly what I'm starting my day with.

People will say that's great, but I don't have the time to make it. It's simple. You find the time and set these things as a priority. I keep a list of restocks I need to do. A list that started simple with my coffee creamer, has grown into a long list of dressing, bread, dry mixes, jams, nut butters, and the list goes on. I don't do all of these every day, not even every week. Now, things like coffee creamer are a weekly restock, sometimes more often, others not so much. I pick an hour on my day off or an evening and do my restock. Multitask! If you're doing laundry, throw together a coffee syrup. Mopping? Make a salad dressing while the floor dries in the other room.

You don't have to cut everything out and replace it all tomorrow with items made from scratch. You'll burn out, crash, and cry. Trust me, I know. Start small, pick one thing, and stick to it for a month. Then add another. You and your family will feel better and have peace of mind knowing what is in your food.

Thank you for reading my why. I hope my recipes can help you be inspired to make a few swap-outs.
